However, these teeth can become trapped under the gums or become impacted, which can adversely affect your oral health.

Wisdom teeth commonly begin to come in around your mid-teens to early twenties. While some wisdom teeth don’t come in for many years, others require urgent care. When these extra teeth – usually held back by bone – free themselves, issues can arise fairly quickly. Your dentist will take a detailed x-ray to understand how your tooth and surrounding bone interact. From there, your oral surgeon will know how to best approach your removal.
